Default Wanting to upgrade RAM on my laptop

i have a toshiba equium m50-216 laptop, and currently have the standard 512mb RAM installed and was looking to expand to two 1gb memory cards. i was wondering if it is only exactly the ones designed for the 'equium m50-216' that will work with it, as they seem to be the hardest and most expensive to find. (i have used crucial.com to test for upgrades) at the top it only has it listed as the m50 series, so are all the memory expansions for m50 range useable with my laptop?
also apart from upgrading the memory of the laptop is there anything else i can do to increase performance/speed?
many thanks for any help
and if anyone knows of any good, cheap (UK) websites for parts such as the memory i would appreciate if they told me about it, cheers

ok well i have been doing some research, and i reckon this memory upgrade will be ok. it is a ddr ram spec type 2. any help would be appreciated. http://www.memorybits.co.uk/shop/com...800d2n51g/5486 here is the link for the exact spec of the laptop, which is why i thought that the ram upgrade above would be ok. http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.c...DUCT_ID=113323 so all i need someone (if they can) to do i compare the two links and tell me if they are compatible. cheers
