Default Weird Laptop BIOS PROBLEM!!!

Hello and congrats on the effort of everyone in this forum!
I have a strange problem with my Laptop which is a Fujitsu-Siemens 1451g. Currently it has Windows Xp home installed and everything works absolutely fine and the temperatures are in normal levels (47-50 0 C).
I didn’t have a problem with it till I decided to install Windows Vista! Here it is worth it to note that this machine is Vista Capable as it is mentioned in the Fujitsu’s website and as the Vista upgrade advisor showed.

The problem is as following:

When I tried to install vista the installation was going fine till the point of the final adjudgements where my laptop shut off for no reason (the fan started working really fast and then it shut the whole system off). The installation wasn’t complete so I was prompted to revert back the settings and any changes in the original state which I did. I tried to install them for another 2 times and the same thing happened!

Now everything works fine (in windows XP of course). The problem is when I am trying to get into the BIOS!

When I am getting in the BIOS the fan starts spinning really fast and after 1-2 seconds the laptop shuts off! This happens only when I am going in the BIOS and not in XP.

In windows everything works perfectly fine! I don’t know what to do!

Does anyone have an idea that might be helpful of what It might be the problem!

Thanks in advance guys

Hello manoual

Welcome to TCF

What amount of memory did you have in the pc when you tried to install Vista?

Also I can't see on that site where it shows that your laptop is listed as even capable of running Vista.

Default Weird Laptop BIOS PROBLEM!!!

Hello Manoual.

The Vista installation has caused a rather serious problem I'm afraid.

Your lappy is shutting down because the cpu is running at peak for a prolonged period of time. This is evident by the fan noise. It's overheating and it's shutting itself down.

Vista is a much bigger resource hog than XP ever was. As you mention the Vista was an upgrade i'm guessing it's the 'Premium' version. This has the Aero feature built in which is very graphics (and ram) intensive, and as your lappy has an integrated graphics chipset your cpu is doing all the extra work. Also, unless you've added more ram over the stock 512mb that came with your pc. I'd hazard you'd be better sticking with xp.

EDIT: Alex is not having a good day, and is therefore talking some crap :(. Ignore the Bios/Vista comment, was thinking about one thing, talking about another, and typing about a third. I don't do multi-tasking. Apologies.

I'd strongly recommend contacting the reseller or manufacturer and asking for a disc to flash the bios. This should resolve the issue.

Lastly, i'd stick with XP. I believe you should only upgrade to Vista if you intend to up the ram amount to 2gb. It's unfortunate to say the least but as it stands your system spec simply can't handle it, not with any degree of being comfortable.

Well again with 1GB of mem you will be struggling, it should be at least double that.
Alex also states the your graphics card cannot hack Vista so I really would follow his advice and stick with XP.
Perhaps not what you wanted to hear but...............

Ah, so you noticed that then? See my edit in bright red comment above.:(.

Anyway, sounds like you havn't updated the bios correctly, again, just re-flash to the original version. It should be on the manufacturers website.
