Hi! I have a Compaq Presario F572US, and I just bought a wireless router today to eliminate cords. For some odd reason, when I turn on the WiFi switch, the light stays red, and there is no desktop confirmation, like there should be. Even beyond that, my computer doesn't recognize that I have a wireless card. This is out of the ordinary, because I have been using the wireless capabilities of this laptop on and off since the purchase about 4 months ago, and this is the first problem of the kind. I have all of my updates up-to-date, and I checked for driver updates, yet nothing has seemed to work yet.

    Thanks for the help!

This could be a hardware issue, is it still under warranty? If not you might want to take it to where you bought it from and see what they have to say on the matter. If it is take it back and they should be able to do a repair. If you want you could try to restore the software using the supplied CD before taking it in just to make absolutely sure it isnt a software issue.

Arg I finally found this site again. I couldn't remember where I posted hehe.

Mmkay, I guess I'll check out my warranty status, and mess around with the CD.

Hmph. I turned on my laptop this morning, and my Wifi suddenly works again. Weird.

Weird indeed. Still don't rule out the possibility of it being something to do with the hardware if it's just suddenly decided to work. Or, it could just be Windoze doing it's duty of making hardware as difficult to install as possible and with no explanation whatsoever of why random and unpredictable things happen.
