I have been offered a Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook 4 with Windows 2000 Pro installed but there is a problem. The previous owner has proected entry by a password which he has forgotten! (It's some time since he used it). Does anyone know how to get round this problem, please? I would prefer to install XP as I have the original disc.

If you want to install XP the why do you need to even get into Windows 2000?
Just boot off the XP disk and install it.
If you want to get into 2000 boot in safe mode(Tap F8)when PC is booting and create an admin account.

Thank you very much - that would seem to be just what I want! Presumably, after I have installed XP, I can then delete 2000 Pro?

If there is nothing you need from 2000 then when you go to install XP just delete the 2000 partition and fromat the drive.
