Hello all,

The company I work for has a peer-to-peer network of 30 computers. It is very hard to manage and administer. We are looking in to changing to a more centralized environment.
Another note, we use MS Outlook 2007 for our emails and our email is hosted by a third-party company, gate.com. We don't have an exchange server.

I just want to clarify something,
In a network that has a server acting as a file server and has a domain controller, the user can log in to any workstation using their credentials and domain information and have all of their documents and settings follow them. Not sure if that is correct but, if it is correct does MS outlook follow also? Can someone please explain how it would work. Can I access my email and documents from any workstation?

Just in case you are asking why log in to other workstations is, our manager asked us "if we go with this change will a user be able to use another workstation if theirs fail."

Thank you!

Hi,

Yes you can do that.

The obvious product based on your size and requirements would be Microsoft Small Business Server 2008 rather than the standalone full products.

Cheers

Lee
