The Ip needs to be in the range set inside your router.

So if your router is 192.168.1.1 the printer will probably need to be between 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.50.

You cant have a router at 192.168.1.## and the printer at 192.168.0.##.

Often you can't use the supplied drivers on a network PC like you describe.

Also, I have seen very few AIOs that allow you to actually use the scanner function over the network.

Have you tried Googling your issue?

Also, does it work on a dynamic IP address? Have you set the subnet mask right?

If you have done it 100 times before, do you normally have these network printers managed by a Windows Print Server, or are there hundreds of standalone ones?

i have done this on another network no problems its just one computer thats wireless to the router and another thats wired into it on the other side of the house, both can print but only the wired one can scan. the wireless one has scanned before but dad uninstalled the software thinking it was something else....

so its a network with 2 computers on it and 3 occaisionly wired to router can scan but the wireless cannot find the printer with the hp program but can with windows.

I guess its something to do with the wireless router not forwarding across between the WIFI and the wired networks then.

Plug the wireless PCs in with a wire for temporary, install the software and then go back to wireless. That would be my next step.
