Hello
I am having problems connecting my Windows PC to the Belkin Wireless G Plus Mimo Router, running off my parents Macintosh. My sister has a Windows PC that is connected to the network fine. She has a Belkin Wireless G Plus USB Adapter. I have an ASUS WLAN pci adapter card, which comes with ASUS software to connect to the network. It sometimes sees the wireless network, but it cannot connect most of the time and sometimes cannot connect to it properly (comes up with a message saying "you have limited or no connectivity"). When it does see the network it has excellent signal strength but cannot get the internet. I have installed the latest drivers on the ASUS card, which I was told to do by the Belkin call center, but that didn't work. Then I was told not to use the ASUS software to run the network and let windows do it automatically with Windows Zero Configuration (WZC), again with no success; although it tends to actually get the signal when I use WZC with the limited/no connectivity. The ASUS software doesn't usually get any signal. I used my sister's Belkin USB Adapter and software and I was hooked up in 5 seconds (assuming that Belkin branded products instantly recognize each others settings). Can I use the Belkin software to work for the ASUS card? What other settings do I need to check for WZC/ASUS software to get full connectivity? Any other suggestions? I have been trying to get this working for about 5 days now. Thank you for your time. |

Does the Asus card not work anywhere, or just not in your PC? Could be you have MAC address filtering set up on the router? In which case your card has to be registered on it.
Is your card wireless b but the router is g only? What do you mean "running off...Macintosh"? Try another card, try another access point to narrow down the problem.

The Macintosh is the computer directly connected to the router (by ethernet cable).
I doubt there is a MAC address filtering set up on the router, as I said I hooked up my sisters Belkin USB adapter and it was up in 5 seconds without entering anything at all. The card is 802.11g, and so is the router. We don't have another card... And don't want to waste MORE money on another one. This one should work. We haven't tried it in another computer yet, but we still want it to work on my computer, so no point trying it. What's an access point? Thank you for replying. :) Hopefully we can sort this mess out! |
