Default BB speed VS Router speed?

Hi, I think i know the answer, but want to check. I have 2MB broardband, if i get a router that is 54MBPS, will it slow my connection?

54 megabits per second / 8 megabits in a megabyte = 6.75MB/s

so no.

2MB broadband is 2MBPS, so no! (A 54MBPS router will not achieve that speed, but there is plenty of leeway)
