I downloaded and installed LimeWire, but couldn't get that to work.
I did the same with BitTorrent and Frostwire, and couldn't get either of these to work.
I started the Troubleshooter for each, and informed me I had to "Open a new Port," of which I did, follwing the Troubleshooter's instructions to do such, but still couldn't get any of the 3 to work.

I was told I needed a Router to get them to work, and since I have a DSL modem connected directly from the DSL phone jack to my computer, I needed to install a Router in between, of which, such Router contained the necessary Port I was missing.

Before I buy a new Router for this purpose, I just wanted to confirm- Do I need a Router to get LimeWire, BitTorrent, and Frostwire to work?

I don't think we're meant to help with this stuff.
This might help.
