Default Bizarre Networking Issue - Toshiba L300-03C Laptop

Hi everyone, I'm not very familiar with computers, so I thought i would come here to see if I might be able to get my PC fixed.

A bit of background: The PC is a Toshiba L300-03C Laptop I purchased in late December. Most of the time, I rely on a wireless connection.

One day, I logged on to my account, and tried to start Firefox. It says:

"Failed to Connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at en-us.start2.mozilla.com.

Though the site seems valid, the browser was unable to establish a connection.
* Could the site be temporarily unavailable? Try again later.
* Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's network connection.
* Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing."

I had seen this message before, didn't think it was a biggie, so I refreshed the screen, and tried some other things I usually tried when it wouldn't open the page. Firefox refused to open the pages I tried. So I went onto Internet Explorer to try my luck there. IE worked just fine. I attempted to download Google Chrome and Safari, and Safari had the same issue as Firefox. Chrome wouldn't complete downloading at all.

I uninstalled and re-installed Firefox several times, with no results. I went onto the Firefox site ro try and find ways to troubleshoot the issue, I tried everything. I realized later on that the problem was not with Firefox, but with something else. When i try to install things using IE, such as flash, it tells me there is no internet connection..when I try to update McAfee, it says the same. It is not recognizing my connection, even when I use my wired connection. Then McAfee tells me " The detection signature file is between 8 and 29 days old. Fixing your protection items..." And yet, it's not fixing it. I've tried everything, nothing seems to work. I tried system restore, but it says system restore was turned off and there were no save points. It seems like something is blocking off everything except regular use of IE. Also, IE will not open my messages on Hotmail. It will not let me delete them either. Does anyone have any ideas?

I scanned using McAfee twice, it gave me the same result: 8 detections, but it doesn't fix anything.

It may be related, it may be not, either way malware on your system is not good.

Read that link, then post the required info in a fresh thread in the virus forum.

Then one of the malware team will get you cleaned up.
