Just got a brand new toshiba laptop, set it up and hit the connect to network button and it comes up with "no networks available" but I have tried in at two different houses where other laptops are working/connecting fine.
To me it feels like the internal network adapter is not working right or its somthing I need to do with it. The adapter is switched to the ON position Went in the device manager and it lists only this under Network Adaptors - Realtek RTL8102E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet In the device manager on my sony pc it lists both a ethernet and a LAN express 802.11g network adapters. Any Help please |

Have you installed the drivers for it?

Should have come with a disc containing drivers and possibly software.
If not/they're instaled and still not working: Start > Network > Network and Sharing Center > Manage Network Connections There should be an icon in there, for the adapter you're using. 1) Right click it 2) Select Disable ---Note: The adapter may already be disabled, if so, skip straight to step 4. 3) Right click it 4) Select Enable. Now wait and with any luck it should identify and connect to your network. If you have WEP or WPA encryption enabled you may have to go in to Start > Connect to To enter your security key or pass phrase, or it may prompt you for it automatically. If it's still not showing just say and I'll list instructions for setting up a new network connection, I just don't want to type all that out if you're not going to need it.

If you definatly have a wireless adapter in your laptop, then it must be a driver/software issue.
It definatly didn't come with a CD? If not try going to the manufacturers site for drivers and the application.

Yeah, should work ok.
Of course the downside of that is you can never use ActiveX Controls to find out which one you need.. but don't worry about that ![]() Let me know if it works or not.

Hmm, certainly very odd.
Might be worth contacting Toshiba about it at this point, explain everything you've tried, and link them to this thread if needs be. I'll have a think and post again if I think of anything.. Sorry I couldn't be of more help..
