Default Cable To Wireless

Hi, I am currently on telewest cable broadband but I would like to move my computer to another room, so I bought the Linskys wireless G broadband router with speedbooster + Belkin wireless G USB adapter, but I new to this technology and after following the set up discs I am still no further on. What I dont understand is, if I have to plug the router into my modem and computer, then it is not wireless and I cant move it any where , so whats the set up then, need help....thanks...

Default Cable To Wireless

Hi Dave

Welcome to TCF

I should imagine your router is trying to make contact with this.
This plugs into your pc so they can communicate.

Default Cable To Wireless

The router plugs into your cable modem via a network (RJ45) cable.

You then connect to the router via the USB adaptor.

You will need to program the router using the laptop first, you do this by plugging into the router via a RJ45 cable from the laptop.

When the router is programed you then lose the cable and connect to the router via wireless.

There should be a diagram on the back of the linksys box if memory serves me correct.
