I have a brand new laptop, on Vista, and when i first tried to connect to my wireless at home, i couldn't. It said local only and could not identify the network. I contacted my ISP and the issue was solved.
The issue i do have now, however, is that if i take my laptop anywhere, and try to connect to their wireless point, i get "local only" connection. My cousins wireless, where i constantly try to access, is an open network, but still nothing. If it helps, when i contacted my ISP, the issue was too many networks on my system, i removed them and tried again, i have tried this. I have also tried restarting routers and restarting my laptop and the wireless setting, the other thing i have fone is checked the driver, uninstalled, and reinstalled. I have no viruses or malware. Could anyone please help? JHargreaves |

Can you see the network? try the settings, and if still no good i`d say it`s down to a hardware fault with the wi-fi connector your using.. |

Many thanks for your post, however oi have resolved the issue. What i did was go into properties, and click, "obtain IP addrss automatically." As i only have a basic understanding of computers and networking, i guess what it was doing was tryin to connect to my home IP?
Many Thanks Anyway. Jamie |
