Default Can't open Billion router web browsing page

I have changed ISP and need to refigure my router but when I type the address 192.168.1.254 I get the message 'This object on the RomPager server is protected' and page does not open. I have not changed the password. I do not want to reset the router as I am too afraid of creating other problems, nothing seems straightforward with computers! I have had router about a year and since first using it I have installed another computer on wired LAN. I have extensively trawled internet on this and there are other postings about this message but no satisfactory answers. The address is allowed in Norton and I have tried turning this off together with Windows firewall. Can anyone help?

This is really nothing to do with ISP, I've changed providers but kept my Billion modem/router, in theory I should simply open up my router via my web browser and change settings but I cannot do this as it does not accept my name and password.
