Certificate validation I'd associate "no valid certificate can be found" with a browser connection to a secure web server, not with a laptop connection to a router network.
I assume it's a Microsoft Operating System on the laptop? If you Start/Run cmd and type "ipconfig /all" what do you get? If you can copy/paste that into a reply here we can see how much of the negotiation for an IP address has been completed.
Or anything else that looks relevant like a wireless network screen dump, or a screen dump of the connection process failing. tinypic.com is useful for showing those here.
