Default Compaq SR5110NX - Network Card Problem

Hello i will start with a little computer information. i have a Compaq computer model SR5110NX it came factory with windows vista and a lousy 512MB ram with onboard sound and network cards. I have gotten rid of Vista and installed windows XP Professional. i contacted compaq support before doing so and thay gave me a link to download a chipset driver for my computer that would work with XP.
after doing so i had to do alot of replacing. but the only thing i am still having issues with is the network card.

i have installed right now Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Ethernet NIC periodically my internet just goes offline it displays A Network cable is Unplugged.
after about 1 second it reconnects again. i have tried different network cards. ethernet cables different ports on the router and direct connect to the modem.
there are 3 computers hooked to my network and this computer is the only one that has this issue.
i have even switched internet companies and the issue still exists ( this wasn't an attempt to fix it this was just a choice i made. ) I recently downloaded a driver scanner that searched the web for driver updates and it shows that everything installed is up to date.
Any suggestions are appriciated.
Thanx

When one downgrades a vista machine to XP with AMD, you actually have to install software for the processor.

Once that is installed, I believe your connection will stop dropping.

I doubt it - the software in question is mostly speed modulation that's not handled via ACPI.

Try disabling Wireless Zero Configuration (can't remember if this is Vista only or not, but I've heard it touted as The Fix for connection dropping issues)
