Hey,

For my previous Q and full details of problem please see: http://www.computer-juice.com/forums...address-19565/

I was talking with my friend's housemate who said one of her friends had a problem with her university internet and it was because of the card, and once she'd gotten a usb adapter she could connect. Do you think this could work? The card i've got should work with the wireless but connects for 10-90 minutes very rarely before disconnecting again.
I've, yet again, went to the university IT help people and am waiting for an IT tech to phone me next week.

Are you running Vista perhaps? My daughters also have this problem, but only with Vista.

It could be that the DHCP assigned address is being renewed more often than necessary.

Have you tried setting a static IP address on the laptops, and seeing if you still have the problem?

At the end of the day, it probably is that the wireless card does drop the connection, but normally the IP address will stick. But if the IP goes as soon as the wireless goes, that could be the cause of the apparent disconnects. May also explain disparancies between XP and Vista.
