I have a question about DSL. I have heard from several people that have the same service I will be getting that they can somehow plug another computer directly into a phone jack and it connecting it to the DSL, without having to purchase a router and a wireless card. I've also had a few people tell me that this ISN'T possible. So what's the final verdict?

You can set up a computer as a router, but this is pretty much well in the power-user category and is generally useless to most when a wireless router is around $30.

No I don't think what you want to do is possible. Your modem needs to connect to the phone line once, then the PCs plug into the modem.

Unless some ISP offers a clever service where they will give you two modems and let them both authenticate at the same time.

Have you thought about Powerline networking or Wireless?

You can only plug into the phone line once, per household. So one PC online is possible with a DSL modem, many with a router. Anyone telling you any different is full of it.
