Hi, me and a friend play a game called 'company of heroes'. my computer is pretty much top of the range and i'm on 8mb/sec.

When I enter a server without my friend there is little or no lag. There is defiantly a block between our two machines, because when we play together it is only me and my friend that lag then inturn get kicked? There is some form of collision between us both being on the same server.

we are both on AOL and live within 2-3 miles of eachother.

any help would be very much appreciated! thank you very much.

Perhaps try Hamachi and playing over a virtual LAN?

It might be that your net connections go through a crap server before going to the gaming server, both your connections may be restricted when playing at the same time. What is the speed of his internet connection?

Weird, might take up a lot of bandwidth in which case you'll get limited to a lower rate to keep performance of the whole service high, I'm not an expert by any means on ISP's but that could be a problem in which case you need an ISP without a fair usage policy.

We don't share an internet connection, we just both use AOL 8mb and are on the same town BT line. sorry if i've messed it up. Is there any known conflict between AOL users on games or such? some sort of blocked port that cuts AOL users gaming together? it's a long shot.

thanks again!

It sounds as if his connection is just crap or his if getting routed differntly. Could also be antivirus, software firewalls, router ports not open etc.
