i cant get online. im using another pc to talk to you lot.

ah right. Sorry. Didn't you get any recovery disks with your laptop?

Also you could try searching for the make and model of it and see if you could download it on another pc and transfer it via a memory stick?

cheers mate i will try that. i just cant understand it. its as if ive half installed something new then left it but i havnt added or removed anything. thanks to everyone who has tried to help. i will keep you updated. anymore suggestions are greatly recieved.

pretty much been summed up,you`ll need to download/install the driver to your pc/laptop.so do you know the model of it?

just to add now when i start my laptop up i get a found new hardware prompt? how, when i havnt been online since sunday. i try to install and hey presto! it dont recognise the new hardware.

You will recieve a 'Found New Hardware' prompt when you are offline, it is not associated with the internet. It automatically detects uninstalled hardware on your computer and attempts to install it.

Just to confirm, didn't quite understand you're post, was it for your Ehternet controller? and did you install the drivers you downloaded from the internet on another pc (from your memory stick).
