I have two computers running off the same internet connection through a router, which causes both computers to have the same IP address. When playing multi-player games on the internet and joining the same game as the other computer it causes some sort of collision and freezes both computers. Is there any way that I can give each computer an independent IP address so that they can play in the same server?

Get a second internet connection.

Other than that, no.

i would have thought NAT/uPNP would take care of any problems, we use internet games on our internal network with only exposing a single IP. I would read about configuring your particular router for gaming.

You should be able to carry on playing as the router should be directing the traffic through NAT or switching it at the very least.

You have local ip addresses for that network itself, and one assigned external.

Most ISPs wont provide extra IP addresses to home users. However, you can look up Demon's Home Business package for something close to £30 a month. I believe they offer a few additional IP addresses, and I'm 100% certain that they're static too.
