Default I can't get my wireless router to pick up the

internet connection from my modem.Help!? My laptop will connect to the wireless router and the router is connected to the cable modem, but the router just won't pick up the internet connection. I've followed the troubleshoot guide and cloned the MAC address as advised, but no luck. I can connect with the intenet if I plug the cable from the modem directly to my laptop so I know the modem is working fine. I have not been able to get the little @ light on the router to come on at all so I can see it's not receving the internet signal. Any ideas?

It's all to do with the IP addresses - switch on the modem, wait a minute, then switch on the router, then the pcs. In short, the modem needs to be switched on before the router.

Kelly is right. I had a similar problem a while back with my Linksys. I spent a good chunk of money on tech help from the geek squad only to be told that I had to power the components on in a specific order so that they registered for ip adress. It is a pain, but as simple as that.Good Luck!
