Default Interesting DSL question

Hi Guys
I have an interesting question for you, I have a very old Compaq Armada M700 laptop and would like to get it on my wireless network.
As it has no wireless card, I aim to connect it via a phone line straight to my router.
The only problem, is my laptop only seems to have a phone socket (presumably for dial up) and a network socket, and neither of them worked (or maybe i'm not holding my tongue right?)
Can anyone help me in terms of configuring it, there must be some way of telling the laptop I don't want dial up, I want dsl!
thanks in advance for any replies!
Jack

You can't use the phone socket for anything other than dial up.

Use the network port or get a USB or PCIMIA wireless card for it.

If you have an existing wireless Network, you must connect to your Router, with a standard Ethernet (RJ45) cable. This will go between the Laptops NIC socket to one of the ports on the Router.
If it doesn't work, check that the NIC Card on the Laptop is enabled (Device Manager).
