Ok well it all started when I was playing WoW. and it didn't let me play so it told me to update Nvidia and get the latest DirectX. So I did. Thn it happens that I got the windows2000 version when my computer is XP. So I asked someone and they told me to go to "Add or Remove Programs" and erase nvidia drivers program since it was a 2000version. So I did then the computer restarted and when I logged back to my computer and the Internet didn't work. And I went to Network Connections and my modem wasn't there so I selected Create a new connection and it didn't recognize my modem again. I've gone to Device Manager and there's these yellow circles with exclimation mark on them. And I read that that meant to reinstall the devices but how am I supposed to do that if it says it requires Internet and I have. No connection.
Also there's a message that says my USB cable modem has a code28 problem.

    I run a emachines
    Microsoft windows xp
    Home edition
    Version2000

If it's a USB Cable modem, you need the USB Driver for it.
It should be on the CD that came with it.
If not, tell us the Make/Model and we can locate it for you.

Well it's a cable modem and we got it from Charter Communications cable company. It had a USB cable but the modem doesn't require it. It uses like a phone line cable that connects to my computer to the modem.

OK, that would be an Ethernet cable.
Sounds like you have uninstalled tour Network Card driver and this needs to be reinstalled.

If the Network Card is on board (not a seperate card), you should find the driver on your motherboard disk. If it's a seperate card, tell us the make/model.

Insert the motherboard disk, then goto Device Manager, select Network Adaptors, right click the entry for your Card and Install the driver ..... follow the wizard, just point to the CD Drive location.

This should have come with your PC.

If not, if this is an OEM PC, tell us the make/model of the PC.

You can obtain the drivers you need here

Download the Chipset drivers and the ReadMe file.

You will have to download it on the PC you are using to post here and then transfer it to a USB memory stick or write it to a CD.
Then you can take it to the PC where it is needed.
