my current internet connection is run via a adsl modem, and in the back of my pc i plug the RJ11 cable into a RJ11 socket, simple enough!
I've now moved house which has wight cable installed, all i have now is a cable with a RJ45 connector and no socket in the back of my pc to plug it in to:(
I've been told i need an ethernet adapter, so bought an ASUSNX1001 Fast ethernet network adapter, installed hardware and drivers and nothing happens

whats wrong, any ideas anyone? or have i bought the wrong thing?

You want a PCI network card.

Extra Value 10/100 NIC Adapter

The USB adaptors are slow and unreliable in my opinion.

Ok so you have to correct equipment.

What are you plugging into? Modem? Router?

Are you getting the green link lights on your equipment and on said new network card?

You have lost me mate.

If your online whats the problem?

And no, if she connects via a RJ45 cable she is using a standard 10/100 network card.

Ah i think i may know why, its just come to me.

With NTL/Virgin when the TV Box detects a new computer on the network you have to register it.

When opening up Internet Explorer for the first time it should redirect you to the login screen for your set-top box.

If it doesnt point your web browser to > https://autoreg.autoregister.net/start.html

Try that.
