Hello.
I will soon be purchasing a laptop and will obviously want the internet. At the moment I have a wired connection on the family desktop PC, I think its a broadband payment which includes the telephone and virgin media. So how do I go about getting the internet on a laptop, is there something I need to buy or is it a matter of getting another internet connection. Any replies would be greatly appreciated! |

You will need a wireless cable router that your Virgin supplied modem will plug into.

Yep .... assuming this is Virgin Cable, the Linksys WRT54G would be a good choice.

Hello again.
Hi have the laptop now and a router which works for virgin media. I've followed the instructions, I basically put the installation disc in my desktop PC (which already had internet access) and followed the 'easy install wizard' which came up. Everything appears to be working, the correct lights are present on the router, my internet connection is fine for the desktop computer I however have no connection for the laptop. Anyone know why? Do I need an adaptor, the laptop is wireless enabled, not sure if the desktop is though. |
