hi there,
first post on this site , apologies if it is in the wrong section.

Having some connection issues at the moment and wondered if anyone could shed some light on potential causes and possible solutions

Basically when i start the pc and connect to the net with mozilla it is fine. If I then open a few applications that require uploads from the web however the connection ends and i can only re-connect by doing a system restart? If i try and access the net it attempts to connect but after a minute fails however all lights on the modem are green and the icon (bottom right shows connected 5.6mbps?) We have had the same issue downstairs with the laptop as i am using an extension cable upstairs. Could it be a dodgy BT line/ISP provider?

Forgot to add that i use a USB ADSL MODEM Speedtouch 330 via a company called Eclipse.

Finally, for the most solid connection is it best to keep the wired element or is wireless really a step forward?
