| maybe it's your ISP. |

| I don't think so. No other computers in the house are experiencing disconnects.

| Just to clarify, Is the following correct? 1. You had no problems until you updated the driver on your ethernet adapter, right? 2. Then, you rolled back the driver to the "original driver", right?, and all was well temporarily, right? 3. Then, when problems reappeared, you tried changing the cable and the port on the router, right? 4. Also, no other computers in the house have any connectivity problems whatsoever, right? 5. Did you use a cable and port from one of the known working computers in the house? if not, you should! 6. It's possible EMI is causing this problem. Has the cable been re-routed? has it been placed near anything that generates EMI? has anything been placed near it? I would say if you've actually performed all these checks and everything you've stated is accurate then you need to replace the ethernet adapter/ nic. I don't know why this would be though. Intermittent problems are usually associated with a loose cable/ connector/ port or interference, not faulty drivers/ nic's. Aren't they? I would think if the driver or NIC were to blame it wouldn't work at all. For future reference, I'd suggest not updating drivers unless there's a problem. Don't try to fix it if it ain't broke. You seem to have stated the problem got better and is now getting progressively worse which also leads me to believe it is interference/ connector/ cable/ port related. I think there is either a loose connection somewhere or you are getting EMI from something electrical that is near the cable, nic or router. |

| No, port from another working computer doesn't fix this. All the other things you confirmed are correct. I haven't checked for interference, but I am 99% sure there isn't any. 2 ethernet cables run under the house to this room, which has 2 computers. They run exactly the same route as each other; they are side by side. If one were to have inteference, the other would as well, am I correct? But I will still go under there and check on them.

| Interference is a possibility, most people I talk to say it's very unlikely, but possible. You can easily rule this out by swapping the cables between the two computers in that room, no need to crawl around under the house. If your computer improves or the other computer starts disconnecting then it's the associated cable/ connector or port. If swapping the cables doesn't correct it the only other thing I could suggest is to try another NIC/ ethernet adapter and see if that corrects it. The thing I'm not understanding is you say the problem started when you updated the driver, but rolling back the driver didn't fix it?? Usually it's change that causes problems. Maybe this change is unrelated?? |

| I dunno. It seems things have changed. Now the other computer is experiencing disconnects, same time as this one. So, checked under the house, and it's fine. Beginning to guess router is going bad...
