| My modem is set up correctly, and because it is an ethernet setting, I have to go to 10.1.1.1 but it won't load, because it is a web page. I can't even get as far as loading it, it just gets the same error as loading a google page would. |

| Hmmm.... that's odd.

10.1.1.1 should work independently from the Internet. What browser do you typically use? Have you tried Opera or Firefox, because perhaps it is an issue with them. Is all Firewall/AV software turned off? If not do so for testing purposes. My System: Toshiba Satellite A200-28P

| OK. There is something drastically wrong with your IP address settings. Your computer cannot communicate with you modem, because they are on different subnets. Sorry for not getting back to you earlier but I have been very busy. Do as I said in the post I made before about opening up the connection properties. Then, set your IP address to be 10.1.1.5 Set the Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0 Set the Default Gateway to 10.1.1.1 Set the DNS Server to 10.1.1.1 Do not worry about the second DNS Server, it is not needed. Then, restart the computer and unplug and plug back in the modem. Then open up Internet Explorer or Firefox or whatever browser you use and type in http://10.1.1.1 That should bring up the configuration page of your modem and your internet should work again if your modem is correctly set up. If it doesn't work, do a hard reset of the modem. There is probably a button on the side of it to do so. You will have to reconfigure the modem as your ISP tells you to do. Once you have access to the config pages of your modem, tell me how you get on and I will explain how to finish off. Can you also tell me who your ISP is?

| His IP address appears to be on a completely different subnet to the modem and indeed the 10.1.1.1/24 subnet, so, no it won't work.

| But if he's directly connected to the modem it should pass on the real IP (as in the one seen by us) to the computer and not do a sub network of IPs as a router does. Especially if it is set up to assign the IP automatically. |

| She** haha. And yes, I am directly set up through a modem. Usually when my internet is down for some reason or anther, I can always get into my modems settings (10.1.1.1) and reset it from there, and it works a charm, but now that screen won't even load. I sometimes have a router set up, but I unplugged it cause someone was stealing my internet, and my wii wouldn't access it properly with the encryption for some reason (who knows) anywho. |

| Well, I reformatted, got a brand new modem, and it's still the same problem. ISP anyone? haha. My ISP said it was Windows Corruption and I need to reformat, reformatted and nothing changed. Got a new modem, nothing changed. I can now get into my modem settings. Anyone? |

| Wow.... I can't go through this thread again right now... so quick question would be how are you accessing the net? Does another computer work connected to the router, because if so I could only think of a faulty network card. |
