Considerring that you can get onto the internet fine (or at least for a while) this would suggest that tehere is no IP address issue. Unless, as Mike indicated, you have two devices providing DHCP services to your computers in which case this is one too many.

I'm still confused about you mentioning that you have to restart your "modems"... Doesn't seem right. It either one modem or one router.

You're indicating that you have a wireless router. What brand is it and where is it plugged into?

Cheers.
Chris

Yea well that is where your problem is... You plug your ADSL splitter/microfilter into your telephone socket, plug your Wireless Belkin router in the back of your splitter and throw the motorola modem in the bin... Either you use a modem or you use a router. Not both. And certainly not both at the same time.

Cheers:
Chris

I can only see two pictures... Doesn't matter really cause I think I figured out what you meant with having a modem and a router at the same time. There's a BNC connector at the back of your modem so you got broadband via cable and not via ADSL. Who are you with? NTL? SKY?...

Anyway, you can also forget about the DHCP issue we mentioned earlier. You only got one device there capable of handing out DHCP addresses so that can't be the issue either.

There is three things I can think of:
The first one is that the ethernet cable between the modem and router does not look very healthy to me. Try replacing that one and see what happens. It might be that due to a bad ethernet cable your Belkin is receiving a lot of errors and it's locking up. Not sure if your belkin router has the option of showing you error stats but it's worth checking that out.

The second option would be that you're receiving a bunch of errors from your ISP in which case there is an issue with the cable. Seems kinda unlikely to me because cable is a lot newer and a lot more reliable than the telephone lines used for ADSL, but it's still worth calling your provider and ask them to get the line checked. You never know.

The third option is that either the modem or the router is on their way out. If you can borrow a router from someone for testing, maybe you might want to try that and see if that solves the problem.

Cheers:
Chris

not sure how Vista accesses IP addresses but probably the same.

Just access the web setup page of your router and make sure it is not setup for DHCP. (Best plug it into your PC/laptop direct to do this and disconnect it from your modem.)
