I am new to this forum and i'm hoping someone out there will have a solution to my problem.

I recently got a Netgear 54Mbps wireless ADSL2+ modem router DG834G v4. having installed it and i waited for my ISP to say all was ok to proceed. i got the DSL light and internet light on the router/modem and switched on my PC (Advent 3217). After about 30 secs the the internet light goes out followed by the DSL light. I restarted the pc but this failed to bring back the connection. I reset the netgear and this also failed. I rang the ISP and phone company and they tested the line/link and said all was ok. I changed ethernet cables which made no difference. I tried a speedtouch modem which also didn't work. Everytime I switch on the pc the link goes. I then tried my laptop which connected first time and i was able to surf the net and use my e-mails. I then switched my pc on to try it and the internet light and dsl light goes and I loose all connectivity.

To sum up then: With my pc switched off and not connected to the router/modem in any form my laptop connects fine. As soon as I switch on the pc the link drops.

Sorry if i've rabbited on a bit, I wasn't sure how much info to put in.

Any answers greatly appreciated.

On both the problem computer and the laptop::

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.
