ive got virgin broadband and ive got the 10Mb service, your going to kill me for this but really 10Mb isnt that fast atall in terms of MBps doesnt it work out as 1.25, which is really slow, theoretically its similar speed of usb 1 as thats got a speed of 12Mbps = 1.5MBps

If it's not fast enough for you, Virgin offer a 20mb and 50mb service, so if you can afford the extra cash, just upgrade to one of these.

I've never fully understood this so I'm writing now in the hope that someone will answer, and then I get a nice lil auto email telling me when someones answered

I realise if they give a 10mb line that its not 10mb of data per second, so what does the figure relate to?

well i say the speed you get of my internet is 1.25MB that works out 10Mb also i think the max download speed you can get is the same 1.25Mb or am i wrong about the download speed

no 1.25 is the actual speed that im recieving its not the download speed is it surely it cant be???

Uh, what? Just test it on Speedtest then...you said you have a 10mbps down internet package, so you have a theoretical maximum of 1.5mb/s down.
