Default LAN Connectivity

Hello
I have 2 PCs and 1 Laptop. Laptop & 1 PC with XP and 1PC with Vista.
All are connected on a LAN called workgroup. The Laptop can see both PCs and open files on them, share the printer & connect to the internet through a router. The 2 PCs can see each other and open files etc. But although the PCs see the Laptop and it apears on the network places list when I try to open a shared file it says that permission is not allowed consult the administrator. I have all administrative rights on all the machines. I have allowed sharing and allowed changes but they wont access the Laptops Files. I have checked Client for Microsoft, TCP/IP and File & Print Sharing of the files.
PS I have worked through the network tyroubleshooter and tried all the suggestions.
I suspect it might be something obvious but any help would be welcome - R

Not what you want to hear but this problem has been asked 1000s of times on and offline.

I'm yet to find a definitive fix, although setting manual IPs has sometimes helped.

Thanks Dave
Would you suggest manual IPs for all or just the troublesome Laptop?

All of them chap.

Make sure you re-boot everything many times for it all to settle.
