| So my computer was working fine the night before, surfing the internet was not a problem. However this morning, I go to use it, and I get my google mainpage up, then I lose internet activity. I now constantly recieve limited/no activity. However, I connected a different computer to the same cable, and it worked fine, which means the problem lies within the computer itself, not a disruption with the modems/cables. I system restored to 3 days before this started happening, and I still recieve the same problem. Does anyone have any idea why this might be occuring? (And when I plug the cord into the back of my computer I do get the active internet light) |

| sounds like a lightning strike that fried the NIC.. or some other malfunction that killed the card

I can almost promise the card is dead, do you have another card you could pop in to make sure? My System: hAvAAck Build 3

| Darn, thats not what I wanted to hear. I expected something of a similar variety but thought against it becuase I was indeed breifly connected for a space of about 2 seconds this morning. I will get on replacing the card ASAP and see if that fixes it. (Although I do not see how it can't.) |

| I wouldn't be so sure, could be that the router is refusing to issue an IP address to that PC.

Try rebooting the router and then the PC, if that doesn't help try entering a manual IP instead of using auto. If you are unsure how to do the IP bit let me know. My System: Hybr!d

| Wow, thanks Dave Hybrid. I thought for sure that since the connection worked on other computers that It had nothing to do with the router. I was just about to go in search of computers to Cannibalize, thanks to your advice (It was so simple, that should have been the first thing I did.) I'm typing from the computer with said problem. |

| A router manages all network IPs. An IP is a bit like a street number and name. Without one the postie wouldn't find you with the mail. :D If the PC is not issued an IP from the router the two cannot talk to each other. Glad it's fixed. :) |
