| I work for a small company. The domain controller is a NT4(I know it's old) platform. I was trying to get an XP Pro comp to join the domain. I kept getting B******* IP address for it so I manually configured its IP address, giving my computers IP address(stupid I know now), but that was one I knew. After that I set the XP Pro computer to automatically aquire IP address. It was cool. Now I have to manually configure my XP Pro computers IP address, DNS server etc. I can't set it to auto aquire, without limited or no connectivity. Also after setting it to auto config it can't find the domain. I'm new at this game, and APPARENTLY old IT people leave problems for new IT people, even tho their newbies. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Joe |

| I don't follow... If won't find it automatically why not leave it on the static address? |

| This sounds like a problem we had with our 2003 server a while back and still do get sometimes for some unknown reason, try removing the xp pro computer manually from the server and assign the xp pro computer to just a workgroup instead of a domain and the try reconnecting it to the server. That solved our problem and maybe it is the same for a NT4 platform.
