Hello all, I'm at a complete loss. For three weeks now, I haven't been able to access the internet on my own computer because I've had the following error message: Limited or no connectivity You might not be able to access the Internet or some network resources. This problem occurred because the network did not assign a network address to the computer. I've spent well over an hour on the phone to the network provider, Virgin Media, and Dell trying to get the issue resolved to no avail. I've tried so many things to fix it, and none of them have worked. Here's what I've tried: - Clicking "Repair" after double clicking the "Limited or no connectivity" icon as an obvious first attempt. - Turning off the modem and computer at the mains and leaving them for a while before turning them back on. - Run - cmd - netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt - Enter. - Run - cmd - netsh winsock reset catalog - Enter. - Run - services.msc - DHCP Client - Stop, then Start. - Run - services.msc - DNS Client - Stop, then Start. - Downloading and running WinsockXPFix.exe after reading posts on other forums about how this program "worked like a charm". - Reinstalling Windows. This took a while, and I was exasperated to find it didn't help, and now I'm stuck with a three year old version of Windows with no way to update it until I get the internet working again. So the status is still "Limited or no connectivity" and the speed has always read 100.0Mbps. Here's some more information which will hopefully be of use: - In DHCP Client, the service is "Started", and the Startup Type is "Automatic". - When I typed ipconfig /all in cmd, the IP address listed was 169.254.239.65. The error came up completely out of the blue, and I'm typing this from one of two other computers which use the wireless network and have no connectivity problems. Does anyone know a way to fix this frustrating problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Blackmirror, thanks for the quick response. I've not tried uninstalling my network card. I'm not really familiar with doing so, so sorry if this sounds stupid, but how would I go about uninstalling then reinstalling it? Also, doing so wouldn't affect the other two computers which use the wireless internet, would it? I'm sure the problem is with my own computer, as the internet is working fine on the other two.

Hi It sounds like you are having a problem with the DHCP server on your router. Is this the only computer that is connected to the router by a wire? Many Thanks Leo
