I can connect wirelessly to my Modem which is in the downstairs hallway, but as soon as I move away more than about 6 feet I lose connection. My friend bought her laptop to try and she was able to connect up in the bedrooms, so I can cancel out any problems with the Modem. Can anyone suggest what I can do ??? Please reply in idiot proof language, not too technical please.

Thanks Guys

It might just be the power of your card or smaller built in antenna. I think most card or built in wifi come 30mw standard. maybe yours is less or your friend might have something better. my card is 200mw, thats about 1200 meter range.
