Default To much Packet sent?

Hello and thank you in advance,

can anyone tell me why in a Vista machine the Packets sent are very high. High as 127,950,856 packets sent. The machine is not running any programs like bit torrents or anything like that. What can cause the packets to be so high. The ISP is COX communications.

Really I can't think of anything else. I'll have them run a virus scan and see what comes up.
Thanks
