Default Mutiple Wireless Routers in Neighborhood

Yaw Smatmc - Hello My Friends.

I have a problem at our friendship centre. We have a network that is both wired and wireless. We have about 12 computers wired and 6 computers wireless. Our router is a linksys.

Our problem is that our wireless clients are continously trying to attach to other networks.

How can I get them to connect just to our router?

Lhlalyam

Rename the wireless network something unique and ask them to connect to that rather than any others.

Also make sure that your network is set as the default on the wireless computers.

Not a lot else you can do if other networks are in range.

Would changing the channel to 11 to help? Most of the other networks seem to be on Channel 6.

No, as I just said there is no way to stop this unless you want to go and visit the owners of the 'other' wireless signals and ask them to turn them off.
