Default NAS Drive set up HELP!

Hi,

Im new here and im looking for some guidance. (Hopefully I have posted in the correct part of the forum)
I am a bit of a computer novice so speak in english to me please!
I recently bought on of these -
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/sto...ory_oid=-32901
At home I have a desktop PC which is hard wired to my router and I also have a laptop connected wirelessly. I want to connect the NAS Drive to the router and use it as extra storage for both computers.
I have followed the instructions by loading the software provided with the drive before connecting it (via ethernet cable) to the router/modem.
But I cannot manage to connect to the drive? The instructions that came with it are a total waste of time so I thought I would ask on here to see if anyone could point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Cheers
Steve

Default NAS Drive set up HELP!

Hi, First of all please check whether your router is picking the NAS drive by logging into your router's configuration page. Usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.2.1. You should see 3 devices; your desktop, laptop and NAS, (the NAS may come up as an unknown device) and each should have it's own IP address.

I don't know what software came with the drive or how it works, but I guess you should be able to just Map the network drive and use it that way. Come back to me with the answer to the above and I'll explain to you the process of Mapping the Network Drive if you do not already know.

Jon
