Default NETGEAR & AOL

OK Here goes,

I have an HP laptop with inbuilt wireless which I have had connected to the internet for some time with BT.
I recently joined AOL and when installing their software I can get a connection through ethernet no problem but not through wireless.
I have tried changing and disabling security re-loading software and playing around with the router configs but to no avail.
I can see the signal when asking to SHOW AVAILABLE NETWORKS but cannnot connect (the password and SSID are correct).
My mobile phone and Wii games system can see the connection also, but they will not connect either.
I have been into device manager for my onboard Broadcom WAN adapter and there are no conflicts, tried the driver roll back and update here too but nothing!!!!
I am using the NETGEAR DG834G V3 router.
When I ping the IP there are no problems(this is with ethernet attached).
In the command screen if I enter "ipconfig" it states "ethernet adapter wireless connection Media State---Media disconnected"
I think I have tried everything but am getting ready to bounce heavy plastic objects off walls!!!!!!!
Has anyone had same issues and did you mage to fix them????
Pllllleeeeeaaaseeeeee heeeellllpppppp!!!!

99% of the time, issues where you can see the network upon scan but do not have Internet access are because the security settings are incorrect.

Erm... by the way... what is that software you installed from AOL...? You mention that you're using a Netgear router so I don't really see how you would need to install any software. That's usually only done when you're plugging an ADSL modem directly into your PC via a usb cable...

Besides, have you alreay looked into your router to see if you're getting an IP address assigned from AOL?

Cheers:
Chris
