Yes you can, but it is a much better option to pop the case panel and fit a PCI NIC Card ..... they are generally cheaper too. Something like this will fit the bill nicely :

thank you but do you know anywhere where i can find a USB network card as i do not have the time or the expertise to put it in myself

Here is a suitable USB model :
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(6998)L...k-Adaptor.aspx but the reason I advised against them is ..... they require USB Drivers and USB can ve a flakey interface at the best of times and another area for issues. There really is nothing involved installing a PCI Card ...... anyone here will help you if you hit a snag, but basically if you can use a screwdriver, you are good to go

Tip: Stick with the same brand throughout your network, and it will minimse problems. eg. If your router is Netgear, stick with Netgear for the NIC's ;)
