Question Networking problem

Could anyone please help. I have a modem which has an ethernet cable plugged into router which has another cable from router to computer. The computer has XP Professional on it. I then have another cable from the router to another room we shall call this room 2. In room 2 I had a new computer with Vista on which was connected to the network and running fine. In room three I had another ethernet cable running back to the router on this I had a laptop with XP Home also working fine on the internet. I have now put the computer from room 2 into room 3 and connected the cable to it, however the network is showing as unidentified network no connectivity. I have tried changing settings such as Workgroup name and entering IP address manually to no avail. this is very confusing as I know the cable is working as the laptop worked, and I know the computer is working as it was fine in room 2. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to solve this.
Thank you
Sharon

Default Networking problem

Set all the IP addresses to AUTO and reboot everything, including the router and modem.

Default Networking problem

did you leave the room 3 ethernet cable in the same lan port on the router? try putting the cable in the sot which the compputer in room 2 was in originally so nothing has changed apart from location of the computer
