I recently made a new build and everything is great! Except my internet!! Ive tried Explorer & Mozilla, but yet I'm still slow as crap accessing the web, sometimes. I click on my IE icon, the screen turns white, wait, wait, wait, connecting, connecting annnddd finally, I have internet. I've tested my speed on numorous occasions and it seems fine to me. Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanx y'all!

Here's my speed results:
Upload: .43 MB
Download: 5.37 Mbps
Ping: 57ms

Are you using AT&T? They suck. I switched to cable this year my speeds more than doubled:
Upload: 9.56 Mb/s
Download: 23.41 Mb/s
Ping: 25ms

LOL and those are slow compared to what the folks in Europe get. You will puke if they start posting their speeds and think we here in the States are on Dial-up still.......

Yeah sounds more like you're being limited by your ISP more than your system.

I won't post what you should be getting, just so as to keep Bubba happy!

But get yourself a broadband package with a reputable company (no idea what's good in the states I'm afraid)

Unfortunately, DSL is the only thing available where I am. The closest cable line is about a mile away. Still though, 6mbps should be more than enough to have instant internet access. Sometimes it is nearly instant, but other times it's slow as a dead constipated dog trying to crap!! I was just wondering if there's anything I can do within IE, settings wise, to help it out.

Given MY experiences with AT&T the chances are that there is nothing wrong with your computer. If you are a mile from the nearest cable, then you are more than likely towards the end of the line for DSL as well. Your speed will be decent when no one else is online, but slow to a crawl when others are. When I had my crappy computer, (pentium3 400mhz) I figured slow speed was my computer. It didn't get much better when I got a new one (3.8 Ghz Pentium4, when those were new technology). It wasn't until I built this machine and STILL had unbearably long waits for internet to load and pages to load that I decided maybe AT&T was the fly in the ointment. It was. I switched to cable and suddenly pages loaded instantly. They load instantly on my daughters computer (she has a 3.8GHz pentium4) as well.

Sounds to me like you might be having problems with the line. I would check diagnostics with your modem or have a tech come out and check it.

Question still remains, My speed checks are in line with what AT&T said my service would be: .50mb/s & 6mb/s dl speed. Ive played online racing sims and had no problems. Actually did it with a slower connection before i upgraded to their fastest available service. So, If I can race a car and have no lag problems, why cant i hit my IE icon and instantly have my homepage pop up???? Ocassionally it does, but 65% of the time it lags and lags and lags. So you think its the line Carbon, despite sped checks that usually are fairly consostant? BTW, thanx for the build, its working gret.

Wow!! After testing my speed again and looking at all the different ISP's national and worldwide, I've come to one conclusion, You're right Buba!! AT&T SUX!!! My speed is above average, but far below what's out there!! Guess thats the downside of living out in the country.
