Default New router causing problems

I have just connected up a LogiLink wireless router after my netgear router died. The problem is that although it shows my wireless connection speed is good ,often at 54Mbps with an excellent signal strength , my internet browsing is very slow and so is any downloading. Any suggestions?

What speed are you supposed to be receiving? 54Mbps is the max that the wireless card can handle not the max of your connection
Check here what speeds you are getting
