No Active Network Adapter?

after clearing the harddrive and re intalling xp from the cds that came with it i can not get online...it worked before...now when i click on the networking in the control panel it comes up blank....i cant remember what i clicked on but i got no active network adapter screen popped up....the machine is an older emachine and the warrenty is up....after days of this im pretty tweeked out...can anyone help??????

You'll need to install the drivers for the network adapter. If you have already, delete the adapter in Device Manager, restart, and install them again.

thanks i have been trying to download a dlink driver on my laptop...burn to cd ..then install on desktop....but so far the desktop has been pulling up an error sign that just says it cant download...ive been messing with this since 6pm and it midnight

Download it somewhere else and run it from there?

the version your downloading needs access to the net to finish the download so i suugest you make sure the driver gets to the first window before burning

i get an error when i try install on the desk top....it is dlink i think it is what simon says but i am not sure of what ur saying simon thanks

hey buddy,

try to access th -link webpage and make sure u have a means of data storage at hand, find your name of the adapter and search it.. eve type in google in example " d-link wireless adapter driver downloads"


this should sort u out good and proper lol

i hate to need my hand held lol i have found a dlink at direct drives....i download and save to my laptop then i burn it to a dics then put it in my desk top...when i click on it from the desktop the start up page from the direct drives comes up then an error massage comes up and only says error with trying to open it.....sorry to need my hand held but this is driving me crazy and im at the point i have to fix it or ill never hear then end of it from my wife lol

nothing wrong with assistance, as far as your concerned you fixed it LOL.. errrm.. try updating windows or download a earlier version of the driver

is there away to get online with dial up if i dont have a dial up isp? my dial up modem is working....i tried aol but they want money....if i could dial up i could get online and directly download.....or udate windows....
