To use a cell phone to connect to the internet you need a phone with an intergrated modem, I have used a nokia 6210 to connect to the internet via a dial-up isp but the connection rate was only 14.4 kbps. The more modern phones allow you to connect to the internet at broadband speeds such as the nokia e65 or the n95 but I found out this is an expensive way to connect. Had a phone bill for over £200 for 3 days while I was waiting for my broadband to be activated at my new address. I would recommend if you use a more modern phone on a broadband style connection to make sure you have a data bundle package to avoid massive bills. When I used a dial-up connection with the 6210 all the hardware i needed was the phone and a datacable with the relevent software and drivers for the phone
