Default Optimizing my download speeds.

Good afternoon,

Im currently on a 2.0mb line with Tiscali and feel like im on 56k. When I download the maximum speed I will get is around 17kbps which is very slow. My PC is next to the hard wire telephone socket with less than a metre distance. My telephone line is hooked to my router and my router to my 2 pc's. Im sure that when going to watch a video at about 10 mins long it shouldnt take 10 mins to load. My router is a wmbr - g54 buffalo. When I test the speed on tiscali I get a correct reading for 1.9 to 2.0 mb download speeds which will allow me to download at around 264kbps. I've never seen these speeds. All firewalls are disabled. Is there a setting that I need to enable on my router?? never had these problems with cable. Hope someone can help.

Regards,

Dean

Default Optimizing my download speeds.

Watch online videos on youtube etc. and PC game demos.

Really annoying when it takes 4 to 5 hours to get 500mb demo.

Alot of the time i just cancel the download. I dont get it, when i was on 512k cable I was hitting speeds of 60 to 70kbps at all times. I then went to 1mb line and was hitting a minimum of 130kbps.

Im now on up to 2 mb which should be producing the same and if not better.

What results do you get from www.speedtest.net

Apart from you maybe having spyware or viruses on the PC there is nothing you can do to speed it up, you will need to contact your ISP.
