Do you have a software application installed to manage the wireless network card that can be downloaded or may already be installed? Many laptop network cards have a third part application to manage the wireless that over rides the Windows one.

You can also try this, it may or may not work:

Step 1 - Start Wireless Zero configuration

If you're prompted to start the Wireless Zero Configuration, you can do so by following the instructions below:

  • Click Start (select Settings if required) and click on Control Panel
  • Switch to Classic View if required
  • Double-click Administrative Tools
  • Double-click on Services
  • Scroll down and Double-click on Wireless Zero Configuration (which you'll find under the 'Name' field)

This will open 'Wireless Zero Configuration Properties'
  • In the 'Startup type' list, select Automatic and click Apply (if a change was made)
  • In the 'Service status' area, click Start, then OK

The 'Service Control' window will attempt to start 'Wireless Zero Configuration'.

Wireless Zero Configuration Properties will display Service Status as 'Started.
  • Click OK to confirm changes and close the window.
Next, you'll need to select to the use Windows to configure your wireless network. You'll find instructions in Step 2.

step 2 - change Advanced settings to use Windows to configure my wireless network
  • Click Start (select Settings if required) and click on Control Panel
  • Switch to Classic View if required
  • Select Network Connections

From here, listed under 'Lan or High-Speed Internet', you should find a Wireless Network Connection. Double-click on this icon.

If you are prompted to 'Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings', follow the instructions below:

  • Click Change advanced settings which you'll find in Related Tasks
  • Select the Wireless Networks tab
  • Click to select the 'Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings' check box
  • Click OK

How far can you get with what I said before? I don't know which wireless tab you mean.

Have you tried pressing Fn+F1? (This button toggles Wireless devices (optional) on or off.)

What OS are you using? If its Vista you may have a compatibility issue.

The actual name of your wireless card is an Intel 2200BG I believe.

You can try downloading these drivers direct from Intel at:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Prod...ProductID=1637

Make sure you uninstall the old ones first through Device Manager.
