ok i have a buffalo wbmr-g54, i want to password the wireless connection, but through the IP i really cant see how

ive googled for a good few days now and ended up contacting buffalo

they said its a very old router and they sent me a link which may help which was just firmware updates i think

im clueless on what firmware is and how it would help....

any ideas guys? this is my last attempt, i may just leave it open

The firmware is like the operating system of the router and may give it improved/more functionality.

Make sure you choose WPA when you enable security. WEP can be cracked in minutes.

cheers serverguy, i expected that it would as for just a password but instead it needed a 10 digit code (for wep)

ive picked a couple of numbers etc im guessing ive done it right, ill find out when my brother tries to connect hehe

I guess any security is better than no security...

WEP, whatever password or passphrase you choose, can still be cracked very easily because the password gets sent with every packet.

WPA, on the other hand, is much more secure.

when i click wpa i get

Group Key Interval:
PSK String:

the group key is set to 3600 automatically

wep works anyways, i found out the brother couldnt use the net whilst i was out last night
